to check out materials, use computers, renew and request
items. It is also required to access the
www.nioga.org
resources from home.
Your Lewiston Public Library or NIOGA Library System card is
recognized in any of the other 21 libraries in Niagara,
Orleans, and Genesee counties. |
Obtaining a Library Card
- Bring driver's license or
proof of address to Circulation Desk.
- With parent/guardian
permission, children five years old and able to sign
their name are eligible for a library card.
- Patrons under 18 must have
parent/guardian permission by signature for computer
use.
- All Niagara, Orleans, and
Genesee county residents are eligible for a library
card. Note: Your library card is valid at all libraries
in the NIOGA system.
- Special circumstances (ie:
those that work in Niagara County but live in another
county-proof of employment required) may be
accommodated. Ask at Circulation Desk.
- Non-residents
are
eligible for borrowing privileges at a charge.
Individual library cards are issued for a $40 fee and
are valid for a one year period. Some restrictions may
apply.

York State driver's license with current street
address. [Note: A license with a Post Office Box or a commercially
available personal mailbox (for example a PMB
available through Mail Boxes Etc.) is not
acceptable, as it does not prove residence.
Applicants are required to provide another form of
ID verifying address.]

Borrower Responsibility
- Borrowers are responsible for
all materials checked out on their library card.
- Do not loan your library card
to anyone.
- Borrowers will be charged for
any lost or damaged materials at replacement cost.
- Consistent disregard of
policies will result in the loss of library privileges.

Renewals
- All materials, EXCEPT VIDEOS
AND DVDs, may be renewed.
- Items may only be renewed if
they are not on request.
- Items may be renewed twice.

Returns
- Books and other materials may
be returned in the drop box when the library is closed.
- All materials may also be returned to any library in the NIOGA system.

Interlibrary Loan
Your library card provides you with access to materials from
other NIOGA libraries. You may request an item be shipped to
you from another library. Requests are taken at the Lewiston
Public Library Circulation Desk or with your library card
online at
www.nioga.org.
Inquire at the Circulation Desk for special requests from
outside the NIOGA system. |
Computer and
Internet Use
Windows based PCs equipped with Microsoft Office, Internet
access and printing capability are available to patrons with
a valid library card. (Patrons under 18 must have parent
/guardian permission and patrons under 13 must be
accompanied by a parent/guardian.)
Children's computers equipped with educational software are
available for children 3-12 years old who are accompanied by
an adult.
